Seahawks release Cliff Avril

The Seahawks released Defenisve End Cliff Avril due to a failed physical. Alongside Michael Bennett, Avril was a signature part of Seattle's defensive line, helping to lead the Seahawks to a 2013 Super Bowl win and the Super Bowl run in 2014.

Despite battling through injuries in 2017, Avril combined for 34.5 sacks in his five-year tenure with the Seahawks. Avril suffered a neck injury during week four of last year's game against the Indianapolis Colts. Eventually, he was placed on the injured reserve list.

According to Joel Corry from CBS Sports, the Seahawks will save six million dollars in cap-space. Avril joins Richard Sherman and Michael Bennett as another core piece of the winning Super Bowl XLVIII team to leave in 2018.
