Sounders Earn a Point Against Columbus

Despite being a man up for more than 75 minutes, the Seattle Sounders couldn't find the back of the net while posting their first shut-out of the MLS season, earning the club their fifth point of the season through seven matches.

On the bright side, Gyasi Zardes missed two wide-open shots in the first half and Stefan Frei, only having to face a 10-man Columbus Crew SC, nabbed his first clean sheet of the 2018 MLS season. However, with 34 open-play crosses and 16 shots, the Sounders only created one shot on goal and couldn't break through with the winner at any point.

The point added, now five total, still leaves the Sounders at the bottom of the Western Conference table, but with two more matches in an nine day period that included Saturday's match against Columbus, Seattle will have a chance to jump up those standings.

On Wednesday, the Sounders will travel to the place they won 2016 MLS Cup and lost 2017 MLS Cup, Toronto. Hear the match Wednesday at 4 p.m. on 950 KJR. Then on Sunday, the club continues the road-trip in Portland for a derby against the rival Timbers.
