Sounders Face Columbus and Focus on Summer Window

As the Seattle Sounders (1-4-1) prepare to face the Columbus Crew (4-3-2) on Saturday afternoon, another injury has struck the team. This time, it's center-back Roman Torres who will be out for a few weeks with a hamstring injury. "It’s not good. His hamstring is not good and that’s all I will say," Head Coach Brian Schmetzer said.

Kim Kee-hee, who started his first MLS match last week in Los Angeles, will fill in at the position beside Chad Marshall, with Gustav Svensson and Tony Alfaro serving as backup options as well. Meanwhile, the club still awaits the return of Waylon Francis at left back and Victor Rodriguez at attacking midfielder.

Here is when, how, and who you can hear this Saturday's broadcast of Seattle vs. Columbus:

When: Saturday, May 5th- Pregame at 12:30 p.m., kickoff around 1 p.m.

How: Stream on 950am, SportsRadioKJR.com, or the iHeart Radio App

Who: Matt Johnson and Pete Fewing on the call with Jackson Felts and Danny Jackson on Pregame and Postgame

Meanwhile, the transfer deadline passed on Tuesday evening. As General Manager Garth Lagerwey told Jackson Felts on Sounders Weekly, "Deadline day is always where you find out where the rubber meets the road and you just gotta do things or move on. How I describe the market in general is that there are some things available at big premiums and ultimately there wasn't a great value out there for us so we passed on overpaying for a couple of things." Listen to the full Sounders Weekly episode, including Lagerwey's interview starting about 20 minutes into the show, below.

On Wednesday, Lagerwey met with the media and made a declarative statement that despite not making an addition in the Spring window, the club intends to make an "eight figure investment" in a Designated Player in the Summer window in addition to trying to bring in a second player as well. Earlier in the season, after Jordan Morris' ACL injury, Lagerwey made it clear he planned to sign a replacement at the forward position. We now know the plan for Summer has been in place "since the first week of February." Watch Lagerwey's full media session below.
