Seattle submits application for NHL franchise

The National Hockey League is another step closer to becoming a reality in Seattle. The Oak View Group along with Hollywood Producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and billionaire David Bonderman, officially submitted an application to the National Hockey League for an expansion franchise. The application included a $10 million fee and the groups are planning a KeyArena renovation in lower Queen Anne, estimated to cost $660 million. In addition, the NHL expansion franchise fee is estimated to cost $600-700 million. A season ticket drive is expected to launch later this year with hopes that the renovated arena would be ready for the 2020-21 NHL season.
