RENTON -- Former Oakland Raiders and Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson is set to visit the Seahawks on Tuesday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.
Nelson, 33, was released by the Raiders last week after acquiring Antonio Brown from the Pittsburgh Steelers and signing former Los Angeles Chargers receiver Tyrell Williams. Nelson spent just one season in Oakland after 10 seasons with the Packers. He was a Pro Bowl selection and named a second-team All-Pro in 2014 with the Packers.
Nelson's season in Oakland was not as productive as some of his best years in Green Bay. Nelson caught 63 passes for 739 yards and three touchdowns for the Raiders. However, the production greatly improved in the latter stages of the season. Nelson had 38 receptions for 386 yards over the final five games of the year in Oakland. Extrapolated over a full season, that's a pace of 122 catches and 1,235 yards..
Because Nelson was released by the Raiders, he would not count against the compensatory pick formula either should Seattle eventually sign him.
A lack of a third option at receiver hurt Seattle over the final weeks of the season. David Moore and Jaron Brown combined for just seven total receptions over the final four weeks of the regular season and the team's playoff loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Seattle could save $2.75 million against the salary cap by releasing Brown, which could become funds used to help add Nelson to the roster.
The report notes that Nelson also has interest from the New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network also reported that former Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers defensive end Aaron Lynch is also set to visit Seattle.
Lynch, 26, played in 13 games for the Bears last season after spending his first four years with the 49ers. He made three starts for Chicago and had 16 tackles, three sacks and an interception. Lynch's best season came with the 49ers in 2015. He started 13 of 14 games for San Francisco. He made 38 tackles with 6.5 sacks, which are both career-highs.
