RENTON -- The Seahawks look like they will be without starting left guard Damien Lewis for a second straight week.

Lewis is listed as doubtful to play for Seattle against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Lewis also missed last week's game against the Washington Football Team with a hyper-extended elbow.

Head coach Pete Carroll had expressed optimism earlier this week that Lewis would be able to return and he was listed as a limited participant for the team's walkthrough practice on Wednesday. However, Lewis was held out each of the last two days with an additional non-injury/medical designation.

It turns out Lewis has also been dealing with a shoulder injury and had a medical procedure to have a cyst removed from his perineum.

Seattle has three running backs listed as questionable heading into Sunday's matchup and speaks to the team's need to add to their running back depth with the addition of Adrian Peterson this week.

Alex Collins (groin/abdomen), Travis Homer (calf) and Rashaad Penny (hamstring) were all on the injury report throughout the week. Homer was a full participant all three days while Collins was limited all week. Penny returned to full participation on Thursday.

"Guys got work this week. They all got work this week. So we just got to figure out who's OK and who isn't by Sunday," Carroll said.

Carroll said that Peterson had a good week getting up to speed with the team. However, he wouldn't commit yet to Peterson playing against the 49ers.

"He jumped in here and had a remarkable influence on the week," Carroll said. "So we'll see, with three guys banged up at the spot, we'll see how it goes on the weekend here but he had a really, really productive week for us and it was really fun to have him in there.

"He's serious about playing. He's not just here to just, you know, for show. He's here to come here and try to help us win a game."

Peterson is currently on the team's practice squad but can be elevated twice before he would need to be added to the 53-man roster. The team does not have to add him to the 53-man roster for him to play Sunday, but he would have to be listed as a practice squad elevation by Saturday.
