The Seattle Seahawks are giving wide receiver Tyler Lockett is getting a new contract.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com, the Seahawks are extending Lockett with a four-year deal worth $69.2 million with $37.2 million guaranteed.

Lockett was set to enter the final year of his existing contract with the team and was due $11 million in base salary with $500,000 in per-game roster bonuses, per OverTheCap.com. His cap hit was expected to be $14.95 million after considering signing bonus proration and incentives.

A four-year extension for Lockett would keep him under contract with Seattle through the 2025 season. While details of the agreement have yet to come out, it's likely the new deal will reduce the salary cap commitment for this season.

Lockett is building one of the best careers a Seattle wide receiver has ever had. He already ranks fifth all-time in team history in receiving yards (4,892) and is tied for fourth in touchdowns with Joey Galloway (37). He's on pace to surpass Doug Baldwin and Brian Blades in both categories by the time his new contract with the Seahawks expires.

Lockett has missed just one game in six seasons for the Seahawks. Following the retirement of Baldwin after the 2018 season, Lockett has taken his game to another level alongside DK Metcalf. Lockett has gone over 1,000 yards receiving in each of the last two seasons. He had 1,057 yards in 2019 and 1,054 yards last season. He's twice posted seasons with 10 touchdowns in 2018 and 2020. Lockett's 100 receptions last year set a franchise record for most in a single season, surpassing the 94 receptions of Baldwin and Bobby Engram.

Baldwin currently ranks second in franchise history in touchdowns with 49. Brian Blades ranks second in receiving yards with 7,620 yards.

Steve Largent holds the franchise records in both with 13,089 yards and 100 touchdowns.
