The Seattle Mariners played their very first game 43 years ago today

Wednesday, April 6, 1977, the Seattle Mariners played against the California Angels in their inaugural game in the Kingdome in front of 57,762 fans.

The starting pitchers were Frank Tanana for the Angels and Diego Segui for the Mariners.

Top of the 1st, Angel's Don Baylor hits a double to right field, bringing in Jerry Remy. 1-0 Angels.

Top of the 2nd, Angel's Terry Humphrey hits a fielder's choice, bringing in Bruce Bochte. 2-0 Angels.

Top of the 3rd, Angel's Joe Rudi hits a two-run home run, bringing in Bruce Bochte. 4-0 Angels.

Top of the 4th, Angel's Joe Rudi hits a double to center field, bringing in Terry Humphrey & Bobby Bonds. 6-0 Angels.

Top of the 5th, Angel's Terry Humphrey hits a single to right field, bringing in Bruce Bochte. 7-0 Angels.

The Mariners fall 7-0. They wouldn't score their first run and win their first game until April 8, 1977.

They ended the year at 64 wins and 98 losses.
