High School Football Player Lifts Volkswagen After Neighbor Gets Pinned

A high school football player is being hailed as a hero after he saved a man who was pinned underneath his car. 16-year-old Zac Clark was outside doing yard work when he heard a loud bang and rushed across the street to find his neighbor trapped underneath his Volkswagen Passat.

"I guess the jack broke or slipped and the car fell on top of him from the waist up," Clark told Fox8. "Only thing I could see was his legs, and he was struggling."

Clark grabbed the car and started lifting the 3,000-pound vehicle. He managed to raise it just enough for his mother, and the man's wife to pull him out from underneath it.

"He had a couple of cracked ribs, and his face was messed up pretty bad, but the doctors told him if I wasn't there then he'd be dead," Zac said. "I just thank God for putting me in the position and giving me the strength to do that."

Clark explained that he thought of his father, who passed away last summer as he was struggling to lift the car.

"I wanted to be able to save him to be with his family," he said.

News of Clark's heroism spread and he was praised by his football coach for saving the man's life.

"Why it doesn't surprise me that he did this, he has just a huge heart," Clear Fork Colts Dave Carroll said. "Here's a young man who's been through tragedy himself with his father passing away last summer and he didn't hesitate at all and saved somebody's life."
