WATCH: Fan Hits Player with Ball on Home Run Trot

When the New York Yankees play the Boston Red Sox, tempers often flare up and sometimes, punches are thrown. Fans have been known to get into fights both in the stadium and on the streets outside Yankee Stadium and Fenway Park. It is truly one of the best rivalries in all of sports.

Saturday was no different, and featured New York slugger Giancarlo Stanton at the center of one of the oddest moments in baseball this season.

Stanton hit a homer onto the Green Monster at Fenway, then a Boston fan proceeded to throw the ball back onto the field. Usually when this happens by some idiot fan, the ball lands harmlessly in the outfield and the fan is escorted out of the building. Saturday, however, was a different story.

The ball bounced then hit Stanton after he rounded second base. Yes, a fan hit a player with a ball. Watch the clip below.

Stanton then responded with a video on social media that, if you have seen Rookie of the Year, can make all baseball fans laugh.
