Despite a nerve-racking last thirty minutes that featured Minnesota cutting Seattle's lead in half, the Sounders defense held strong and the team extended their lead in stoppage time, capping a 3-1 win on Sunday afternoon. The victory marks Seattle's first win of the MLS season (now 1-3-1) as the club prepares to travel to Los Angeles for a match against LAFC next Sunday evening.
Gustav Svensson opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a 28-yard rocket from outside the top of the box followed two minutes later by Will Bruin tapping in a Cristian Roldan cross to double the Sounders' lead. Christian Ramirez scored Minnesota's lone goal in the 66th minute in a stretch that saw Minnesota rattle off multiple dangerous shots. Jordy Delem, a late substitute, scored Seattle's final goal in stoppage time.
