Camp Notes: Doug Baldwin leaves practices with injury

Seattle Seahawks v Tampa Bay Buccaneers

RENTON -- Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin left the field for the final 30 minutes of practice on Thursday after sustaining an apparent injury to his right foot or ankle after making a catch.

Baldwin caught a pass up the right sideline with linebacker K.J. Wright giving chase. As the two players tangled and fell to the ground, Baldwin immediately reached for his right foot. He remained on the ground briefly before standing and retreating further off the field. He began testing his ankle from side to side while occasionally reaching down to the injured area.

Baldwin then walked off the field under his own power with trainers trailing behind. Cornerback Richard Sherman also accompanied Baldwin as he retreated inside the facility.

"Whenever you see a teammate go down it's always a little bit nerve-wracking," quarterback Russell Wilson said. "I'm sure he'll be OK. I'm going to go check on him inside. I'm sure he's fine. He's as tough as it gets. Doug will be back, for sure."

Head coach Pete Carroll was not available after practice so there has been no official update on Baldwin's status.

Additionally, defensive end Frank Clark was back in pads today for the first time since his fight with Germain Ifedi last week led to his absence from practices. Clark was sporting a brace on his left knee, which he's had even as a spectator to practices in recent days.

It appeared Clark's return was going to be short-lived as he came up hobbling and favoring his left leg during the early part of practice. However, Clark later returned during team drills while no longer wearing the brace.

News & Notes:

-- The Seahawks have employed somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 different offensive line combinations with their first-team offense since the start of training camp. Keeping track of all the different iterations has been nearly impossible.

Needless to say, the Seahawks have yet to settle on a starting five to groom for the season opener in Green Bay next month.

The most constant pieces have been George Fant at left tackle and Justin Britt at center. Luke Joeckel has received the occasional turn at left tackle, but outside of that Fant and Britt have been rooted in place with the top unit. Joeckel, Rees Odhiambo, Ethan Pocic, Mark Glowinski, Germain Ifedi, Oday Aboushi, Jordan Roos and Will Pericak have all received first-team reps at one time or another, sometimes in different positions altogether.

-- The Seahawks waived/injured linebacker Ronald Powell and signed defensive lineman Christian French.

French was with the Seahawks briefly last season and took part in the team's rookie mini-camp as a tryout player in May. He played collegiately at the University of Oregon.

-- Ten players sat out practice with the Seahawks on Thursday: cornerback Jeremy Lane, cornerback DeShawn Shead (knee/PUP), safety Delano Hill (groin), linebacker D.J. Alexander (knee), tackle Justin Senior (knee/PUP), tight end Luke Willson, defensive tackle Malik McDowell (accident injuries/NFI), defensive end Dion Jordan (knee/NFI) and defensive end Marcus Smith (groin). Powell had already been waived/injured before practice began.
