From what I've heard: think of Mike Hopkins in the same way you might think of Tommy Lloyd. Responsible for a lot behind the scenes.— Christian Caple (@ChristianCaple) March 19, 2017
Hopkins of course was head coach in waiting at Syracuse, his alma mater. Shocking move.— Seth Davis (@SethDavisHoops) March 19, 2017
Hopkins played guard at Syracuse from 1989-1993 before starting his coaching career at his Alma Mater in 1996 as an assistant. He then became the Interim Head Coach during the 2015-16 season before going back to his assistant position of 20 years this season.
