It appears as though S Kam Chancellor had surgery on his hip after all.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Chancellor did have surgery on his hip this offseason.

John Clayton of reported in March that Chancellor would require "minor" hip surgery this offseason. However, Chancellor appeared to contradict that report with a tweet saying "Huh? No surgery here. Ready to win."

General manager John Schneider also dodged a question on Chancellor's status during a pre-draft meeting with reporters last week.

“Um, I'm not going to get into that right now," Schneider said. "That's not something I want to discuss. I think that I would like to just not talk about it. I just don't think it's appropriate right now. We can talk about it later. Not later today, later.”

Per Rapoport, the hope is that Chancellor will be ready for preseason.

Seattle kept backup S Jeron Johnson this offseason by offering him a second-round restricted free agent tender, which Johnson quickly signed. He has since agreed to reduced contract but the move to keep Johnson was likely insurance against Chancellor's surgery.
