RENTON - Yet another member of the Seattle Seahawks will miss time after needing hip surgery.

A team spokesman said that LB Bruce Irvin had surgery on his hip on Monday.

Irvin took to his Twitter account after the news was first reported to say he would be ready in time for training camp.

Irvin is the third player to undergo hip surgery in the past year. WR Percy Harvin had hip surgery to repair a torn labrum last August and missed 15 of 16 regular season games due to the injury. S Kam Chancellor had surgery to correct a hip issue in April. He is also expected to be ready in time for training camp.

Irvin had 40 tackles and an interception in 12 games for Seattle last season. He missed the first four games of the season while serving a suspension for a performance-enhancing drugs violation.

Tharold Simon, Jesse Williams return to practice field:

CB Tharold Simon and DT Jesse Williams, each fifth-round draft choices by Seattle in 2013, returned to the practice field Monday for the first time in a workout open to the media.

Simon and Williams both missed significant time during their rookie seasons due to injuries.

Simon practiced just two days with the team in rookie mini-camp last May before toe injuries on both feet kept him sidelined all year. Williams saw some action in the preseason before lingering knee issues landed him on injured reserve.

The Seahawks were high on both players coming out of last year's draft, but still know relatively little about their abilities. With competition at both positions expected to be fierce, Simon and Williams will have to remain healthy enough to challenge for spots.

Tony McDaniel, Marshawn Lynch among absences on Monday:

Organized Team Activites (OTAs) are voluntary workouts. As such, a few players were not on hand for Monday's practice.

DT Tony McDaniel, RB Marshawn Lynch and CB Phillip Adams were among the players missing Monday's practice.

Also, DT Andru Pulu and DE Cassius Marsh remain absent as they are not eligible to participate as their graduating classes have not finished their school years.

On the other hand, several players were back at practice after being absent or sidelined last week.

QB Tarvaris Jackson and DE Cliff Avril were both back in attendance after missing last week's practice open to the media on Tuesday. S Kam Chancellor was also back on the field but is still sidelined following hip surgery.

RB Spencer Ware, LB Malcolm Smith, LB Heath Farwell, T Russell Okung, TE RaShaun Allen and LB O'Brien Schofield were also sidelined due to injuries.
