RENTON - DT Jordan Hill was forced to sit out the remainder of practice on Tuesday after suffering an arm injury.

According to head coach Pete Carroll, Hill has a strained biceps muscle that has kept him out of practice the last two days and will keep him from playing against the Green Bay Packers Friday night.

Multiple media reports out of Pennsylvania Wednesday night said that Hill had a partially torn biceps and could miss three to six weeks. Carroll said those reports were not accurate.

"We’re just going day to day, week to week if it takes that long," Carroll said. "We’ll see how it goes."

WR Sidney Rice and TE Zach Miller both will not play and Carroll said the team is focused on making sure they are ready for the start of the regular season.

"We are pointing to the opener with Zach and Sidney and all those guys who have not had the chance to get active to play in the games. So that’s somewhat of a conservative approach. But we think that’s the way to do it so we are going to stick with that.

G James Carpenter is getting closer to returning from a foot injury that has sidelined him recently. Carroll said the hope for Carpenter is that he will be able to return to practice next week and possibly get some action in the preseason finale against the Oakland Raiders.

LB Bruce Irvin (groin) and DE Cliff Avril (hamstring) will be game-time decisions. FB Michael Robinson will not play as he had not been able to be around the team this week due to an injury. DT Jesse Williams also will not play with a knee injury.

CB Richard Sherman and CB Antoine Winfield both looked to have suffered minor injuries in practice on Wednesday. However, Carroll said Sherman was stepped on by WR Golden Tate and is fine. Winfield has a sore knee but it also isn't expected to be an issue.

WR Phil Bates has practiced all week and is expected to see time again at fullback after only seeing one snap in the backfield last week before injuring his foot.

With the injuries to Hill and Williams, DT Tony McDaniel will get the start at defensive tackle alongside DT Brandon Mebane. McDaniel is finally ready to play after a groin injury has kept him out of the first two games of the preseason.
