Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Javier Morales scored a hat trick and assisted on another goal as Real Salt Lake continued its unbeaten start to the season with a 5-2 win over the Houston Dynamo at BBVA Compass Stadium.

Morales scored the fastest goal in RSL history as he found the net just 15 seconds into the match. A second goal arrived for Morales in the 17th minute, while Mark Sherrod scored his first MLS goal for the Dynamo in the 22nd.

But Servando Carrasco's red card in the 27th reduced Houston to 10 men, and Alvaro Saborio made it 3-1 at halftime.

Sherrod managed to score again for the hosts to cut the lead to 3-2, but Luke Mulholland gave RSL some breathing room with a 78th-minute goal before Morales completed his hat trick from the penalty spot.

The fast start was important for Salt Lake as the team entered the match having failed to win in nine games in Houston.

Morales took a pass from Saborio and he managed to chip goalkeeper Tally Hall to put his side up before most fans had settled into their seats.

The goal was the first of the season for Morales, and he didn't take long to add another as he stabbed home a flicked header from Ned Grabavoy in the 17th.

Sherrod scored from a Brad Davis corner kick in the 22nd, but only a few minutes later, Carrasco saw red for a challenge from behind on Morales.

Saborio made the advantage count with his sixth goal of the season on a glancing header from a Mulholland cross, while Houston wasted a chance to get back to within a goal as Giles Barnes had a penalty kick saved by goalkeeper Nick Rimando.

Barnes managed to force a turnover in the 56th minute that led to Sherrod's second goal of the match, but RSL closed out the contest with two goals in the last 12 minutes.

Morales played Mulholland in behind the Houston defense and he slotted home his third goal of the season before the hat trick was completed by Morales after Devon Sandoval drew a penalty kick.
