defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-1 Tuesday afternoon in Cactus League play at Camelback Ranch.

The Mariners jumped out to an early lead with a three-run third inning, including back-to-back RBI singles by shortstop Brad Miller and third baseman Kyle Seager. Center fielder James Jones singled to lead off the fourth inning, stole second and eventually scored on a wild pitch to add the Mariners fourth run of the game. Seager and Jones each recorded 2 of the Mariners 8 hits.

The Dodgers finally got on the board in the bottom of the 8th inning when right fielder Trayvon Robinson hit a solo home run to left field off right-handed reliever Stephen Kohlscheen.

Mariners starter Felix Hernandez (1-0) earned the win in his Cactus League debut, allowing two hits, one walk and one strikeout in 2.0 scoreless innings. Reliever Hector Noesi tossed 2.0 shutout innings in relief, while James Gillheeney, Jonathan Arias, Andrew Carraway and Dominic Leone each tossed a scoreless frame in relief. Leone recorded his first save of the spring with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

The Mariners (6-1) return to Cactus League play tomorrow (Wednesday, March 5) at 12:05 PT/1:05 MT vs. the Cleveland Indians at Peoria Stadium. The game will be broadcast in the Seattle on 710 ESPN Seattle on delay at 7 pm PT. Left-handed pitcher James Paxton (0-0, 0.00) is scheduled to start for the Mariners against Indians right-hander Travis Banwart.
