SEATTLE, Wash. -- Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager Jack Zduriencik announced today that Seattle has traded veteran shortstop Brendan Ryan to the New York Yankees for a player to be named later.

Ryan, 31, appeared in 87 games for the Mariners this season batting .192 (50x260) with 4 doubles, 2 home runs and 9 RBI. Ryan appeared in 32 games since June 11, hitting .182 over that stretch. He has started just 12 games at shortstop since July 1.

Ryan was acquired by Seattle on Dec. 12, 2010. He appeared in a total of 351 games with Seattle from 2011-2013, hitting a combined .215 (237x1103) with 48 doubles, 6 triples and 9 home runs.
