Mirco Mueller assisted on all three Everett goals, the other two of which came from Ivan Nikolishin on a first-period 5-on-3 powerplay and Carson Stadnyk into an empty net after Fonteyne helped the ‘Tips re-gain their lead. Goaltender Austin Lotz (25-18-3-2) turned in a solid performance with 24 saves and was named the game’s first star.

The ‘Tips got off to a quick start, getting the game’s first five shots on goal and eventually outshooting the Thunderbirds 16-6 in the first 20 minutes.  When Seattle was whistled for consecutive penalties to put Everett on a two-man advantage, Mirco Mueller blasted a point shot that ricocheted off Taran Kozun’s pad and right to the stick of Ivan Nikolishin for a tap-in at the goal mouth to give the visitors a 1-0 lead after one.

Seattle came out strong in the second frame, controlling much of the play through the first 10 minutes.  Russell Maxwell created a turnover along the boards as Everett tried to exit the zone, setting Jaimen Yakubowski’s blind backhand shot just inside the post to tie the game at one.  The T-Birds then created chances during back-to-back powerplay opportunities to follow, but Lotz made numerous saves through traffic to keep the game tied.  The ‘Tips took a 2-1 lead with time winding down as Matt Fonteyne skated down the left boards and ripped a low wrist shot perfectly inside the far post for his third career goal.

The Silvertips killed off an early Seattle powerplay in the third to maintain the lead, which they continued to do successfully as the period wore on.  Everett went on the powerplay late in regulation, but the T-Birds pulled Kozun for an extra attacker anyway.  With Seattle scrambling for the equalizer, Mirco Mueller scooped a puck out of traffic near the Everett net and helped set up Carson Stadnyk’s empty net goal to seal the 3-1 victory.

Thunderbirds goalie Taran Kozun (18-24-2-2) stopped 27 shots in net as the final shot count was 30-25 in favor of the ‘Tips.  The Silvertips went 2 for 4 on the powerplay, while the penalty killing unit was a perfect 4 for 4.
