Amundrud, 16, was a third-round pick of the Silvertips (59th overall) in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft.  He has been recalled to Everett numerous times over the past two seasons to fill-in as the team’s back-up goaltender during injury situations, but has yet to make his Western Hockey League debut.  He appeared in one exhibition game for the ‘Tips during the 2013 preseason.

“This is a good opportunity for us to get Nik some quality practice time and even potential starts in games through the remainder of the 2013-14 season,” said Silvertips General Manager Garry Davidson.  “That experience will benefit him moving forward into next year as he continues to develop and try to earn a full-time roster spot with our team moving forward.”

Amundrud has spent most of this season with the North East Midget AA team in Saskatchewan’s Centre Four Hockey League, where he has compiled a 9-2-1 record and 2.81 goals-against average in 14 appearances.  The Melfort, SK native also appeared in one Junior-A game this season, making 34 saves for the Melfort Mustangs of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League in a 6-3 loss to Melville on December 13.

The Silvertips are on home ice Friday at 7:35 pm to battle the rival Seattle Thunderbirds for our 2014 “Navy Night”; a game that will also be televised live on ROOT Sports’ “Friday Night Ice”.  The ‘Tips then travel to face the Tri-City Americans Saturday on the road before returning to Comcast Arena to complete a three-in-three weekend against the Portland Winterhawks Sunday afternoon at 4:05.

Silvertips flex tickets and “Now & Later” packs for the 2013-14 WHL season are available now at the team office.
